Improving Incentives for Office-to-Residential Conversions in Massachusetts- By Zain Ahmed
This report examines the current state and city incentives in Massachusetts and Boston for office-to-residential conversions, from the Commercial Conversion Tax Credit to the City of Boston's program offering a 75% tax abatement for 29 years. The report compares these programs with those in New York, and offers a proposal to incentivize the conversion of newer, post-war buildings with centralized cooling and large floor plates.
